Club Meetings
Our general meetings our held on the second Friday of each month at the the Science Museum Oklahoma (formerly Omniplex) located at N.E. 52nd St. and Martin Luther King Blvd. (next to the Oklahoma City Zoo and Remington Park). Meeting times are at 6:45pm starting with a "Novice Session" for beginners/new members (once session starts Planitarium doors are locked) and the regular meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.
Planetarium Novice Sessions
Beginning at 6:45 pm each month, the planetarium novice sessions will alternate between detailed examinations of a 60 degree segment of the sky appropriate to the season and learning to use star charts and planispheres in the field. Come to these sessions and learn to find your way around the night sky; an essential skill for every amateur astronomer! Don't forget to bring your planispheres and star charts to these sessions as well as a red light flashlight.
Got questions? Email the club Observing Coordinator.
Regular Meetings
Starting at 7:30 pm and following the novice session, we are graciously awarded with a presentation by one of our members or guests that is of interest to the amateur astronomer. These presentations range from the basic; How to Pick Out a Telescope to the more advanced; How Old is the Universe. The public is welcome to attend. Generally we congregate at Hideaway Pizza after the meeting to chat and get to know each other better under normal lighting.
